More about Stacey and Delmar

Delmar and Stacey Lytle

A native of Jamaica Estates, NY, Stacey is a lover of people.  She attributes her love of and for people to her grandmother who played an important role in her upbringing.  Stacey attended an all-black elementary school that encouraged her critical thinking and analytical skills.  When the family relocated to Maryland at 10, Stacey was placed in advanced classes and graduated high school at age 15.

Upon graduation, Stacey attended the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore earning a Bachelor of Arts.  In her quest for learning, she attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and earned a Master’s in Public Health by age 21.

Stacey knows her purpose is to show love to people who may not know its power to heal. She has contributed her talents and resources to several philanthropic causes and continues to seek ways to make a difference in the world around her.

Delmar’s big personality matches his big frame and heart.  A native of Centralia, IL Delmar comes from a very large, extended family.  Always being the “tall kid”, many tried for force Delmar to follow in the footsteps of his older brother and play basketball.  Instead, Delmar created his own path excelling in academics and graduated as a state scholar from high school.

Following the death of his grandmother, Delmar turned down an academic scholarship from Northern Illinois Univeristy in the mathematics department, and instead atteded the local community college.  That decision shaped the course of his life, where he switched his major to Civil Engineering, and graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign. This shift was God-ordained, as Delmar realized that his capacity for critical thinking within the field of Civil Engineering is a blessing.

Life has caused him to relocate halfway across the country – twice.  Those transitions have taught Delmar the value of meaningful, lasting relationships. He plans to use this knowledge, coupled with his gifts, to one day make differences for communities around the globe.

Stacey and Delmar both accepted their calls to the preaching ministry in 2003, and are ordained elders in the AME Zion church.  Within the AME Zion church, Stacey and Delmar have held leadership postions within the Christian Education department, served on several district and conference committees, and facilitated workshops during connectional Christian Education Meetings.  Stacey and Delmar are associate ministers at the Union Wesley AME Zion Church in Washington, DC.  Five years after marrying, in 2019 Stacey and Delmar relocated to Austin, TX where they live with their two daughters, Elise and Eden.
